When I do get paid, I pay the most important bills first, but never have enough to pay everything. When I win at the casino or on a scratch ticket I try to pay another bill, or sometimes I reinvest it on more tickets. My counselor tells me I need to make a budget, but I have been putting it off, I am not really sure where to start.

 

Part I

Now that you have your Categories established and have prioritized them, it's time to take a look at how you spend your money. Many people don't realize how much they spend on smaller items, until they start to keep track of each transaction they make. For example, how much do you spend on take-out coffee a week?
